Course Information

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for in-service security personnel who are responsible for preventing and detecting shoplifting and those interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills in making an arrest. 

Joining Criteria

Participants should:
  • Be educated to Secondary 3 or above or equivalent; and
  • Possess no less than 2 years of experience in guarding or related services; and
  • Have completed the HKIOS “Guarding Operations (Level 2) Online Course”; or
  • Have completed course(s) that comply with the requirements of the Units of Competency (Level 2) related to Guarding Services.

Assessment

  • Assessment will consist of a course-end examination and practical exercises.
  • The course-end examination will be in the format of multiple-choice questions.
  • Scenario-based exercises will be used to assess the participants’ ability to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in making arrests.

Award and Recognition

Participants who fulfil the following criteria will receive a “Certificate of Completion”:
  • Have completed all course activities; and
  • Have attained 100% attendance; and
  • Have achieved a score of 62% or above in the course-end examination.

Intended Learning Outcome

At the end of this course, participants will be able to apply the knowledge and skills that they obtain from this course to make arrests legally and correctly.

1. This is a hybrid course. Pre-recorded videos will be used for teaching of theories online, which will be further enhanced with in-class practical exercises and assessment.
2.  Learning Hours will include videos (3 hours), self-study (2 hours), practical exercises (6 hours) and examination (1 hour).

This is an “Official” and “Core” course related to “Qualification Accreditation” under the CPD Scheme of the PMSA. Holders of Property Management Practitioner Licence may earn a maximum of 12 CPD hours upon completion of the course.
