Anti-epidemic Measures

  1. Course participants are required to conduct a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) with a negative result prior to attending a class.
  2. Course participants must wear a mask in class.
  3. Course participants are not allowed to eat at the training venue.
  4. Course participants should bring their own drinks and writing materials.

Typhoon

Under situations as listed below:

  1. Tropical Typhoon Signal No. 8 (or above) has been hoisted, OR
  2. Tropical Typhoon Signal No. 8 (or above) will be issued within two hours as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory. OR
  3. “Extreme conditions” after super typhoons are in force (announced by the Hong Kong Government before the Hong Kong Observatory replaces Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 with Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3)

The following arrangements will apply:

1. Classes and Examinations not yet started

  • Face-to-face classes and in-person examinations scheduled to start within 4 hours after the warning is cleared will be cancelled.
  • Face-to-face classes and in-person examinations scheduled to start 4 hours after the warning is cleared will commence.
  • Online classes and online examinations will continue as scheduled.

2. Classes and Examinations already started

  • All face-to-face classes and outdoor examinations will be suspended immediately.
  • All in-person examinations, except those held outdoors, will continue until the end of that examination session.
  • Online classes and online examinations will continue until the end of that session.

The following arrangements will apply:
(a) Classes and Examinations not yet started

  • Face-to-face classes and in-person examinations scheduled to start within 4 hours after the warning is cleared will be cancelled.
  • Face-to-face classes and in-person examinations scheduled to start 4 hours after the warning is cleared will commence.
  • Online classes and online examinations will continue as scheduled.

(b) Classes and Examinations already started

  • Face-to-face classes and in-person examinations, except for those held outdoors, will continue.
  • For outdoor classes and examinations, the Trainer should immediately suspend the outdoor activities, take all learners to a safe place, and remain there until it is safe for them to return home.
  • Online classes and online examinations will continue until the end of that session.

What is so special about HKIOS courses?

HKIOS courses are designed to give course participants the knowledge and skills required for security job functions and to meet recognised standards. Course details can be found at www.hkios.hk/courses.

I work long and irregular hours. How do the HKIOS courses help in my pursuit for the knowledge and skills to advance in my career?

HKIOS courses may be run face-to-face or online or a hybrid of the two. You may choose a course with the training mode that best suits your needs. You can also access the course materials online at any time and continue to access the course materials after you finish a course through your HKIOS account.

How do I know when a HKIOS course is available?

HKIOS courses are run on a set schedule, details of which will be regularly updated on this webpage: https://www.hkios.hk/courses. If you leave your name and contact details via Whatsapp (+852 93381281), you will be informed of our updated course schedule through email and/or Whatsapp.

When do I need a HKIOS account?

Once you are accepted as an HKIOS trainee, you will be assigned a HKIOS account for your personal use.

How do I create my HKIOS account?

You may click ‘Create Account’ at the top right corner of www.hkios.hk.

How do I change my account details?

You may ‘Sign In’ your HKIOS account and then go to ‘My Profile’. On the profile page, click ‘edit’, then ‘general’ and make changes as required.

How do I close my HKIOS account?

Please email info@hkios.hk with your details.

What should I do if I forgot my password?

You may click ‘Sign In’ at the top right corner of www.hkios.hk and then go to ‘Forgot Password’.

How do I change or reset my password?

You may ‘Sign In’ your HKIOS account and then go to ‘My Profile’. On the profile page, click ‘edit’, then ‘change password’.

How do I enrol for a course?

Please go to www.hkios.hk/courses and click on the course name that you are interested in. This will lead you to the page of that course. Once there, you can find all the course details, and choose to enrol online or download the enrolment form for that course.

I am not sure if I meet the Joining Criteria of a course. What should I do?

I am a company. How can I enrol my employees for a course?

Can I take more than one course at a time?

You can take as many courses that we offer at the time, contingent on being able to complete all the training requirements.

What should I do if I need to start a course late or miss certain parts of it?

Course participants must meet all the training requirements (including timely and complete attendance) to receive the Award and Recognition of a course. Please contact us by email info@hkios.hk or Whatsapp +852 9338 1281 so that we can assess whether you should be allowed to take the course.

When will I know if my enrolment for a course is successful?

Your enrolment will be confirmed by email at least 1 week before the course starts.

I have received confirmation of my enrolment for a course. Now what?

Your HKIOS account will contain the courses that you are signed up for. Click the relevant course name and go to the individual course page. Details of the course including the training materials will be available on the individual course page. Please read the course instructions carefully and act accordingly.

What do I get when I complete a HKIOS course?

Each course is different, and you may refer to ‘Award and Recognition’ of the respective course page. When you meet the graduation requirements of a course, you will at least get a ‘Certificate of Completion’ of that course.

What are the criteria for successful completion of a course?

You must meet the Assessment requirements as well as timely and complete attendance of the training. Details about Assessment and duration of completion can be found in the respective course page. You should also refer to the ‘Attendance Rules’ below.

How can I prove to my employer that I have attained the necessary knowledge and skills of a job function through the HKIOS training courses?

You may provide your employer with copies of the ‘Certificate of Completion’ as proof. Your employer may then validate your HKIOS training achievements through ‘Find an Alumni’ at the top right corner of www.hkios.hk or contact us by email info@hkios.hk.

I have lost my HKIOS certificate. How can I get it back?

You may provide your employer with copies of the ‘Certificate of Completion’ as proof. Your employer may then validate your HKIOS training achievements through ‘Find an Alumni’ at the top right corner of www.hkios.hk or contact us by email info@hkios.hk.

I need a hardcopy certificate. What should I do?

We shall charge a nominal fee of HK$100 and you are required to collect the certificate in person with your identity document.

What are your attendance rules?

Attendance requirements may vary from course to course. This will be specified in the respective course details. Attendance is recorded in an attendance sheet for face-to-face classes or tracked by the system with your image captured for online training classes.

What if I am late to a class?

You must notify us in advance or as soon as possible by WhatsApp +852 9338 1281 with your details and reasons. Arrangements will be made for you to receive the missed training.

What if I am sick or need to take leave due to other reasons?

You must notify us in advance or as soon as possible by WhatsApp +852 9338 1281 with your details and reasons. Arrangements will be made for you to receive the missed training.

What are the circumstances that will make you disqualify a trainee?

We have zero tolerance for dishonesty. Hence, cheating in tests and examinations and plagiarism will result in disqualification.

What will be the outcome of a disqualification?

When dishonesty is proven, a trainee will be disqualified from the course and banned from attending HKIOS courses for life. The course fee will also be forfeited.

Can I appeal against my course results?

Yes. You may raise an appeal to our Appeal Board.

Can I appeal against a disqualification decision?

Yes. You may raise an appeal to our Appeal Board.

How can I raise an appeal to the Appeal Board?

When we inform you of your course results or our disqualification decision, you will also be informed of the appeal process and details of how to contact the Appeal Board.

Do you provide discounts for HKIOS courses?

We offer discounts:

  1. To individual members or staff of member companies of our supporting organisations.
  2. For enrolment of certain bundle courses.
  3. For bulk enrolment in groups of 4 and above.

Do you provide financial assistance or payment plans?

We do not offer financial assistance or payment plans. However, we plan to obtain QF-recognition of relevant courses, details of which will be updated at the respective course page. Once a course is QF-recognised, you may claim your training fees back from the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) upon successful completion of the course.

I need to cancel my enrolment for a course. What should I do?

You must contact us by email info@hkios.hk or WhatsApp +852 9338 1281 and provide your reasons for cancellation as soon as possible.

Under what circumstances can I get my course fees back?

  1. If you cancel your enrolment before receiving our confirmation, we shall return your course fees if you ask for a refund.
  2. Once your enrolment is confirmed, course fees are not refundable. Depending on your reasons for cancellation, we may allow you to keep your fees for the next course that you take with us.
  3. If we cancel a course after you have paid for it, we shall refund your course fees in full unless you ask for alternative arrangements.
